About this tool

Printing a form just to sign it, then scanning it back in, wastes paper and produces a blurry, crooked copy. This tool puts your signature straight onto the PDF instead. Draw it with a mouse, trackpad or finger; type your name and pick a handwriting style; or upload a photo of your signature on white paper — the white background is removed automatically so only the ink shows. Then place it on the page, add the date or your printed name, and save.

You can place as many items as you need, on as many pages as you need — a signature on the last page and initials on every page, for example. Items are placed relative to how each page is displayed, so they land exactly where you put them even on landscape or rotated pages. The rest of the document is not changed: text stays selectable and the file is not re-compressed.

What kind of signature is this? It is a visible electronic signature — an image of your signature added to the page, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. In many countries, including the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK and the EU (eIDAS), electronic signatures like this are legally valid for most everyday agreements. Some documents, such as certain property, court or notarised papers, require a certificate-based digital signature or a wet ink signature instead; if in doubt, check with whoever asked you to sign. Everything happens in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries, so neither the document nor your signature is ever uploaded or stored.

Frequently asked questions

How do I sign a PDF without printing it?

Open the PDF here, draw or type your signature, click Place signature, drag it onto the signature line and click Save signed PDF. The signed file downloads straight away — no printer or scanner needed.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?

For most everyday documents, yes. Laws such as the US ESIGN Act, UETA and the EU’s eIDAS regulation recognise electronic signatures. Some documents — for example certain wills, property deeds or court filings — need a specific type of signature, so check if the stakes are high. This is general information, not legal advice.

Is this a digital signature with a certificate?

No. It adds a visible signature image to the page, like signing on paper. It does not add a cryptographic certificate that proves the file hasn’t changed. If someone requires a certificate-based digital signature, they will normally send you a link to their signing service.

Can I use a photo of my real signature?

Yes. Sign a white sheet of paper with a dark pen, take a well-lit photo, and choose Upload. The white background is made transparent so the signature sits cleanly on the page.

Can I add initials to every page?

Yes. Place your initials once, select them, and click Put on every page. They are copied to the same position on every page of the document.

Is my signature saved or uploaded?

No. Your signature and the PDF stay in your browser and are discarded when you close the page. Nothing is sent to a server.
