Image Compressor

🖼️ Image Tools

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files right in your browser. Adjust quality, compare before/after, download.

🔒 This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or upload is sent to our servers.

How to use the Image Compressor

    1. Drop one or more images (or click to choose). They are processed on your device.
    2. Set the quality (lower = smaller file) and optionally a maximum width/height.
    3. Download each compressed image, or all of them.

    About this tool

Most photos straight from a phone are 3–8 MB — far more than a website, email or form upload needs. This compressor re-encodes the image using your browser’s built-in codecs. Quality 70–80% is visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos while cutting the size by 60–80%. Choosing WebP as output typically saves another 25–30% over JPEG.

Because the whole process runs locally, there’s no file size limit, no queue, and your photos are never uploaded.

    Frequently asked questions

Why is my PNG not getting smaller?

PNG is lossless, so the quality slider doesn’t apply. Convert to WebP or JPEG (if you don’t need transparency), or reduce the dimensions.

    Will compression reduce image quality?

Slightly, but at 75%+ the difference is invisible at normal viewing sizes. Use the before/after preview to judge for yourself.

Are EXIF data and location removed?

Yes. Re-encoding through the canvas strips metadata such as GPS location, which is usually a privacy benefit.

Is there a file size or count limit?

No. Very large images (50+ megapixels) may take a few seconds on slower devices.
