How to use the Rotate PDF
- Drop in a PDF. Every page is rendered as a preview so you can see which ones are wrong.
- Click a page to turn it 90° clockwise. Click again to keep going, or hold Shift and click to turn it the other way.
- To fix the whole document at once, use the rotate-all buttons above the previews.
- Click Save rotated PDF and download the result. The rotation is permanent, not just a viewing setting.
About this tool
Scanners and phone cameras routinely produce pages that open sideways. Most PDF readers let you spin the view, but that only lasts until you close the file — reopen it, email it, or print it and it is crooked again. The page orientation has to be written into the document itself to stick.
This tool does that. It reads the PDF, renders a thumbnail of every page so you can see at a glance which ones are wrong, and writes your chosen rotation into each page’s own orientation setting. A page that already carries a rotation is handled correctly — your turn is added to what is there, not substituted for it, so a page that opens sideways ends up upright rather than overshooting.
Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. The text, fonts and images in the file are copied across untouched, so the saved document is exactly as sharp as the one you started with and the text stays selectable. Because the whole job happens in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib, a confidential scan never leaves your machine.
Frequently asked questions
Does this permanently rotate the PDF?
Yes. The rotation is written into each page’s orientation setting inside the file, so it survives closing, emailing and printing. That is different from the rotate button in a PDF reader, which usually only changes how the file looks on screen until you close it.
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes — that is the point of the previews. Click only the pages that are wrong and leave the rest alone. Every page keeps its own rotation.
Will rotating reduce the quality?
No. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. Only the orientation flag on each page changes, so text stays selectable and images are byte-for-byte the originals.
How do I rotate anticlockwise?
Hold Shift while clicking a page, or use the rotate-all-left button. Clicking a page three times gets you to the same place.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened, previewed and rewritten entirely inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so scans of passports, contracts and medical records stay private.
