About this tool
A raise is easiest to judge in the units you actually feel: what changes on payday. A 4% raise on 60,000 is 2,400 a year, which is about 92 extra per biweekly paycheck before tax. The calculator does that conversion for any pay frequency, and works backwards too โ enter the new salary an employer offered and it tells you the percentage.
The real raise line subtracts inflation. If prices rose 3% and you got 4%, your purchasing power went up about 1%. If your raise is below inflation, you have effectively taken a pay cut โ a useful fact to bring to a salary conversation. All figures are gross; your take-home increase will be smaller after tax.
